The Strategic Value of Public-Private Cybersecurity Collaboration
The Strategic Value of Public-Private Cybersecurity Collaboration at the Next IT Security event
On the 13th of November 2025, I had the privilege of joining Predrag Vuckovic (CISO of Booking.com) for a candid fireside chat on one of the most important shifts in our field: the move from individual defense to collective resilience.
My biggest takeaway: Collaboration you can rely on during a crisis is built long before the crisis. Trust doesn’t appear under pressure — as we said on stage, “pressure reveals character, and in cybersecurity, it reveals culture.”
We talked about: • How commercial platforms see fraud patterns governments never will — and why sharing that intelligence is challenging • The legal reality versus the “GDPR excuse” many organizations hide behind • Programma Cyclotron as a Dutch example of high-maturity operational collaboration • The conditions that make partnerships real: reciprocity, clarity, and shared outcomes neither side can deliver alone • Why collaboration needs to become instinct, not obligation
A sincere thank you to Predrag for an open and pragmatic conversation, and to everyone in the audience for the thoughtful questions and reflections afterward.
Collective defense is not a slogan; it is a capability we must deliberately build, piece by piece.
